Meet Jackie ...

Hey! My name is Jackie, and I am the founder of Sixpence Bridal Studio. Sixpence was born 5 years ago, out of the desire to create a more sustainable way for brides to find their dream dress.

I have worked in the bridal industry for almost 2 decades (definitely aging myself right now). I started working as a bridal consultant part time, while getting my degree in Fashion Design.

I wore many hats in bridal, and working alongside a well-known Canadian bridal designer, I took on roles such as Customer Service Representative, Order Entry, Quality Control, Fit Modelling (this part was fun) and even being an Australian Sales Representative ( yes...I got to travel to one of my favourite countries)! I have also worked at the National Bridal Market trade shows in New York and Chicago.

Aside from many years in customer service, management roles and bridal consultant positions I am also certified in Wedding Planning! I don't however practice the wedding planning side of things, but love to pass on my knowledge and tricks to anyone who asks!

I am also an experienced seamstress. I started my own alterations/custom dressmaking company in 2006 where I specialized in prom and bridalwear. As life became a little busier with my other full time job as a mother of 2, I have passed the alterations torch onto my talented seamstress Maria.

My family is everything to me. Becoming a Mum was something I knew I'd love but never imagined that I'd love it this much.  My partner and I have 2 littles - Lincoln and Lennox.. They are my entire world! FUN FACT; they actually share the same birthday but two years apart!

SO to sum it up.. I know a thing or two about bridal! I'm often asked what my favourite part of my job is... and to speak honestly, I love helping a bride find their dream dress.

It sounds like the clichéd response, but I truly love seeing a bride walk in for the first time in awe of the dresses, and helping them narrow down their choice until they find "the one." It really is the best part of what I do.

About the Shop

Built in 1899, this Neo-Classic Romanesque Revival building is one of Guelph's Cultural Heritage Properties, and proudly displays our collection of gowns.

Located just steps from the heart of downtown Guelph, Sixpence Bridal Studio is right on the corner of Eramosa and Arthur Street North.

The shop recently underwent a renovation as we celebrated Sixpence's 5 year anniversary in 2021, and it brings us so much joy to see our brides coming into our updated space!
